A rapidly growing Pharmaceutical company are seeking a Global Head of Business Development and Strategy to deliver business growth via both inward and outward deals.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Identify and execute in-licensing and product acquisition transactions in line with therapeutic area focus for China and Asia markets
  • Conceptualize and run strategic out-licensing projects for biotechnology assets across innovation spectrum i.e. early and late stage novel biologics and under development biosimilars
  • Coordinate business case for investment proposals with other functions (Commercial, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, etc.) and present to senior management
  • Participate in creating and driving strategy for business units incl. therapeutic area prioritization, portfolio development and product identification
  • Develop and execute global strategic and tactical plans for products and company value creation
  • Lead, manage and mentor 10 direct reports across Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing and US offices
  • Develop and track metrics that serve to measure the progress and impact of the BD projects against pre-determined objectives
  • Prepare and manage a budget designed to serve the achievement of the Global BD & Strategy functions’ objectives

Key Requirements 

  • Excellent Pharmaceutical experience, ideally +15years 
  • Preference for an individual from a Pharmaceutical MNC in a business development role, or from the investment banking space in a pharmaceutical deal making function
  • Global network with knowledge of pharmaceutical markets and Asia
  • Strong strategic, commercial and financial acumen with decision-making ability
  • Analytical/critical thinking, problem solving mindset with inquisitive nature
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong leadership and employee development approach
  • Team first, collaborative approach to work, with a flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in a matrix environment and proven success with stakeholder management
  • University degree in Science/ Business, ideally with an MBA
