Position Overview:

The team is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their dynamic legal team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal support in a wide range of commercial and corporate transactions, as well as contributing to corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters. They are looking for a highly skilled legal professional with 8 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in a common law jurisdiction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial and corporate agreements, including but not limited to contracts, licensing agreements, and partnerships.
  • Provide legal guidance and support in corporate governance, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations impacting the info-communications industry in Malaysia.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal and business objectives are aligned.
  • Conduct legal research, analyse complex issues, and provide strategic advice to the business.
  • Manage legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Handle dispute resolution and litigation matters as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • A qualified lawyer called to the Bar in a common law jurisdiction with 8 to 10 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide array of commercial and corporate transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance principles and regulatory compliance.
  • Prior experience in the media and info-communications industry is highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Adaptable and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
