An innovative global MNC is seeking a skilled Data Privacy Legal Specialist to join the venerable China governance team. This role is the first of its designation in Shanghai, and involves close collaboration with multiple functions to ensure robust data protection and compliance across APAC.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on privacy compliance, focusing on China, Hong Kong (incl. Greater Bay Area), and Singapore.
• Monitor and respond to data protection law developments in APAC.
• Support new product launches with privacy assessments and risk mitigation.
• Conduct internal training on data privacy laws and practices.
• Perform privacy impact assessments and maintain related records.
• Represent privacy matters in risk management and board meetings.
• Assist with incident reporting and audits.

Key Requirements:

• Qualified to Bar with at least 4-5 years of relevant experience (up to 10 years welcome to apply).
• Private practice experience from top law firms or global financial institutions/MNCs.
• Strong foundation in data privacy, especially with PIPL.
• Native speaker in Mandarin and proficient in English.
• Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assertively enforce compliance while facilitating business objectives.
• Work independently and provide pragmatic advice.
• Team player with experience in international stakeholder collaboration.
