Job Description
Our client is one of South East Asia's most successful FinTechs, currently at Series D with a view to IPO in the next 2-3 years. They are on a goal to disrupt unsecured lending in Southeast Asia, one of the fastest growing economic regions globally.
They're looking for a VP of Engineering to play a key role within the engineering organization and drive technological evolution that spans across the organization. This role will be responsible for the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale technology projects that help to improve business efficiency and overall engineering quality.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, improve, and maintain the products and systems.
You will also manage a team of engineers (currently around 20, with a view to grow). As a team leader you'll be responsible for growing and empowering the team to accomplish great things, and ensuring that best practices, standards, and processes are adhered to
Report to the CTO and act as the voice for your team, staying abreast of market updates, competitor movements, and technology advancements which can/must be considered
Help the company (from the Tech team standpoint) navigate the transition from scrappy start up to well established, pre IPO tech company: deliver world class products and platforms, and lead technology initiatives that set up the company for success at scale
Direct strategic technology capability investment to build future company growth engine and competitive advantage including attracting and grow top engineering talents in the region
Planning and execution of career growth and training within the team
Key Requirements
At least 10 years' experience in software engineering
Recent experience having led and managed teams of engineers (ideally team sizes over 15 people, with several lines of reporting)
Prior experience working in a company going through significant growth is a must, e.g. a company going through funding rounds/ IPO, working in teams that have doubled in size, revenue etc, where your role was in software engineering (and ideally leading a team during this time)
Championing engineering and operational excellence with a growth mindset
Related industry working experience in FinTech is an added advantage, but not a must
