​This role is with a leading global fintech provider whose platform provides salary-linked savings, loans, pay advances, insurance, and financial education.

They have over 200 employees spilt between 3 countries with there their engineering teams being based in the UK. The company has won over 70 awards for its work including MoneyAge's Consumer Champion of the Year.

Your role:

As a Software Engineering Manager, you’re a leader with a critical role to play. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the software delivery activity in one of our delivery teams (Squad).

  • Line management of approx. 3-6 developers (junior, mid level and lead developers).

  • Performance review, development and management of those direct reports as well as liaising and relaying information between senior management and other team members.

  • Contribute to annual reviews and involved in the recruitment of additional Squad members.

  • Contribute to the objective setting of the team and develop operational plans to help the team achieve their goals.

  • Report on Squad Performance and delivery, as well as propose options for improvement when either is not as expected.

  • Lead and ensure best practice standards for all relevant software engineering disciplines are defined, understood and adopted, throughout the application life cycle.

  • Maintain appropriate metrics within their delivery team to enable continuous improvement.

  • Take responsibility for resolving issues arising within their Squad and implement corrective action.

  • Input innovative approaches to the delivery teams and support the successful adoption of such ideas, driving improved performance.

  • Challenge unnecessary complexity of software development within the delivery team, determining and removing the source of the complexity.

  • Identify and deal with potential and actual risks across or between all stages of the product life cycle, reducing the incidence of recurring risks.

  • Support the Engineering Tribe Leads and Quality Assurance Managers on the most complicated risks, issues, and dependencies. Contribute to the community of practice, leading on specific disciplines, tools or methods as required.

  • Work closely with the Scrum Master and Product Manager to ensure timely delivery of products, resources, and prioritisation of the roadmap work is delivered.

  • Escalate to the Engineering Tribe Lead where further assistance is required.

  • Responsible for onboarding new joiners to the squad and exiting current squad members

  • Experience in leading a team and supporting the development of individual team members.

  • In-depth experience and background within software engineering (preferably a .Net background)

  • Delivery experience preferably in technical software delivery and Agile ways of working.

  • Driven and professional individual who is always looking for continuous improvement methods to adopt in order for the team to work more efficiently.

  • An individual who has a proven track record with experience in leading teams and delivering on time, on budget, and to quality our customers should expect.
