An opportunity has come up for an experienced Derivatives lawyer to join our client, a leading regional bank in Asia. Reporting into the department head and being based out of Singapore with the regional team, the successful candidate will be given the remit to provide a wide spectrum of advisory, negotiation and documentation support on derivatives transactions. Furthermore, the individual will also be involved in advising business stakeholders on regulatory considerations as well as structured products matters.

You are LLB qualified and called to the Bar. Candidates with a combination of relevant experience gained in another financial institution will be very well regarded. Candidates from private practice welcomed to apply. We have latitude to consider senior and experienced candidates but at the minimum the successful candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide legal, advisory and documentation support on derivatives transactions.
  • Take lead in documentation negotiations, including ISDAs, GMRAs, and GMSLAs.
  • Advise business stakeholders on legal and regulatory considerations related to derivative documentation/transactions, bespoke structured products as well as other related matters
  • Participate in group level projects in enhancing deliverables of the regional global markets business as and when required
  • Assist in developing, improving, and implementing derivative legal documentation precedents, templates, and policies/frameworks, and ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are robustly met.
  • Keep abreast of developments in relevant regulatory developments and ensure best practices within the bank are always adhered to.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues

Key Requirements 

  • LLB/LLM and Bar qualifications a plus but not a must
  • Min 5 years of relevant experience preferably with another financial institution (candidates coming directly from private practice welcomed to apply)
  • Good knowledge of derivatives instrument/products/documentation would be essential
  • A team player
  • A self-starter who can work well independently as well as being in a team environment
  • Strong business acumen
