We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our legal team and play a vital role in supporting our maritime business, including shipping, offshore, and marine operations.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Counsel with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our legal department. As a Senior Counsel, you will focus on providing essential legal support to our maritime business operations, which include shipping, offshore activities, and marine services. You will work closely with our in-house legal team and collaborate with business leaders to ensure legal compliance and drive strategic initiatives within the maritime sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on maritime operations, including shipping, offshore, and marine services.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to maritime activities, including charter parties, vessel acquisitions, and maritime joint ventures.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local maritime regulations and standards.
  • Lead and manage legal aspects of maritime transactions, such as vessel acquisitions, charters, and shipbuilding contracts.
  • Oversee due diligence for maritime deals and conduct risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with business units to structure and execute transactions effectively.
  • Stay informed about maritime laws, regulations, and conventions, ensuring that the conglomerate's maritime operations remain compliant.
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies and policies in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide strategic legal advice on maritime business decisions.
  • Offer solutions and recommendations to support our maritime business objectives and growth.
Qualifications:
  • JD/LLB from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Singapore or UK
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with a focus on maritime legal matters, including shipping, offshore, or marine operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing legal aspects of maritime transactions.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work independently on complex legal matters.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
