Our client, a global bank is looking to fill a Senior Counsel, Global Trade Finance (min 8 PQE) role.

Reporting into the Head of Legal, Trade. this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced trade finance lawyer to join an established trade finance specialist legal team with a broad range of scope and coverage. 

The successful candidate will be given the remit to advise on a broad range of trade finance legal work including but not limited to documentary trade, trade distribution, open account trade and others.

The ideal candidate should have at least 8 PQE gained from leading law firm and/or in-house role with a Bank. Prior experience and knowledge of Trade Finance, including documentary trade, structured trade solutions, trade distribution, supply chain finance; etc will be a must

Key Responsibilities 

• Advise global trade finance business stakeholders on matters related to legal risk, product development (Trade products), strategic projects and growth plans

• Advise on potential risk, inefficiencies, and other gaps within the Trade Finance Legal function

• Be the subject matter expert to legal topics relevant to Trade Finance products the Bank offers and advise the business accordingly

• Participate and support global legal team on group wide initiatives and projects

• Ensure adherence to the bank’s policies, processes, and framework

• Keep abreast of legal and regulatory development in the Trade Finance space across the region

• Manage external counsels supporting on broad range of advice as and when required

Key Requirements 

• LLB/LLM qualified

• SG Bar qualification (min 8 PQE)

• Law firm and In-house (Financial Services/Banks) legal experience gained in the Trade Finance/Supply China Finance/Structured Trade Solution space
