Our client, a European MNC is looking to fill a Legal Director, SG & MY role.

Reporting into the Group General Counsel in HQ, you will be advising on broad range of legal matters related to the company’s multiple business operations in Singapore and Malaysia. Day to day scope will include but not limited to commercial contracts drafting and negotiation, advise stakeholders on general corporate commercial matters, manage dispute/litigation matters (as and when they arise) and managing the legal team (and budget) for Singapore and Malaysia.

You are LLB qualified and called to the Bar (8 to 15 PQE). Candidates with experience in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices and/or Consumer Goods will be highly relevant for the role. Prior experience working in listed entities will be very well-regarded.

Due to the need to oversee legal matters in Malaysia, the ideal candidate should be effectively bilingual in English as well as Bahasa Melayu. We are looking to fill the role either in Singapore or Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities 

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements
• Support the team in other general corporate commercial matters
• Advise stakeholders on possible legal risk and provide mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance to company’s policies and regulatory requirements
• Assist on corporate secretarial matters to ensure all regulatory requirements are satisfied
• Assist in the drafting of policies, guidelines, legal templates, and other documents to ensure best practices
• Developing and maintaining contract templates
• Conduct relevant legal training for stakeholders

Key Requirements 

• LLB/LLM qualified
• 8 to 15 PQE
• In-house and law firm experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player who can operate independently and also provide guidance/management to a small team.
