Our client is a leading diversified conglomerate with global business interests spanning investments, trading, chemicals, infrastructure, and other industries. With a strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region, the company is known for its dynamic and forward-thinking approach to business. They are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their well-established team in Singapore, where corporate M&A experience is valued, but not the primary focus of the role.

Job Description:
As a Legal Counsel for this diversified conglomerate, you will play a pivotal role within our legal team in Singapore, supporting the company's diverse business interests across the region. While corporate M&A experience is highly valued, the primary focus of this role is to provide expert legal advice, ensure compliance with regional laws and regulations, and facilitate various strategic corporate transactions.

  • Offer expert legal counsel and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters affecting the business, which may include corporate M&A.
  • Conduct due diligence exercises, review transaction documentation, and provide risk assessments and recommendations, as needed.
  • Ensure that all transactions and business activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, both in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Leverage your in-house experience to effectively manage and support the legal needs of the company.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and business development, to achieve business objectives.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Qualified lawyer with 4-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law, including potential experience in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters independently.
  • Regional experience and familiarity with Southeast Asian markets is a plus.
