Our client is an Asian conglomerate with business interests in various areas. Due to expansion plans into the e-commerce space, they are currently looking to fill a newly create legal counsel role to support the growth. Reporting into the General Counsel, you will be taking a lead role in supporting everything related to the new business of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate broad range of commercial agreements related to the e-commerce space
- Play an active role in providing legal support to the e-commerce teams in matters related to partnership, marketing, sales, technology and others
- Advise stakeholders on possible legal risk and provide mitigation strategies related to business operations and transactions
- Kept abreast of development in the e-commerce space from a legal, regulatory and risk perspective across the region
- Ensure compliance to company’s policies pertaining to all matters and also to advise on data privacy/protection considerations
- Assist in the drafting of policies, guidelines, legal templates and other documents to ensure best practices
- Coordinate and liaise directly with external counsels on transactions (in SG and overseas markets)
Key Requirements
- LLB/LLM qualified (min 5 PQE)
- Bar qualification from a commonwealth jurisdiction
- Experience in advising on e-commerce topics – experience gained in law firm or in-house
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Prior experience in the TMT (e-commerce in particular) space would be critical
