Our client, a well-established bank is looking to fill a Legal Counsel (3-5 PQE). Reporting to the Lead Counsel for Global Banking business. This is an excellent opportunity for a banking & finance lawyer looking to transition into an in-house role with a collegial environment with flexible work arrangements and work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be part of an established team that provides legal advice on a broad range of banking products including but not limited to corporate banking, trade finance, and transaction banking.

Candidates with prior experience in advising on banking and financing transactions (in-house or practice) will be very well-regarded. We are happy to consider candidates with only law firm experience (either Banking & Finance or Corporate Practices).

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review financing documents

• Advise business stakeholders on legal risks pertaining to lending transactions

• Work with the bank's product specialists to ensure best-in-class products are structured with optimised risk/return ratio

• Keep abreast of legal and regulatory developments in the banking sector to sure policies, processes and frameworks are kept robust and up to date.

• Advise on general corporate commercial matters

• Liaise with external lawyers on transactional matters as and when required.

Key Requirements

• LLB/LLM qualified

• 3-5 PQE (Singapore Bar preferred)

• Excellent communication skills

• Team player

• Prior experience as an in-house counsel with a financial institution or relevant law firm experience (Banking & Finance practice OR Corporate Practice)
