 Our client, a leading insurer is looking to fill a Legal Counsel (3-4 PQE) role.  

Reporting into the General Counsel, the successful candidate will be given the remit to advise on a broad range of matters related but not limited to general corporate commercial agreements (relevant to the insurance business and IT/Technology contracts), M&A, Corporate Finance, Projects (legal/regulatory angle), Regulatory (Insurance Act, SGX listing; etc) and other policies matters.  

The ideal candidate would be a Singapore Bar qualified lawyer with circa 3-4 PQE gained from leading law firm and/or relevant in-house role(s). Prior experience in the Insurance industry will be well-regarded. Understanding of SGX listco matters will be a clear advantage.

Key Responsibilities  

• Draft, review, and negotiable a broad range of commercial contracts

• Advise on transactional matters (M&A, Corp Finance)

• Participate in group wide projects and provide legal advisory input

• Assist in handling disputes related matters (as and when required)

• Keep abreast of legal, compliance and regulatory developments in the markets and businesses that the group is operating in and ensures policies and frameworks are stay robust and relevant

• Provide advise and ensure timely compliance to regulatory requirements (Insurance Act, SGX listing manual, Financial Adviser Act; etc)

• Provide legal advice to business stakeholders to advance commercial objectives while ensuring proper risk management processes are being adhered to

 Key Requirements

• LLB/LLM

• Bar qualification (SG preferred) with 4 PQE

• Prior experience advising on Insurance matters (in-house or law firm) would be well regarded.

• Excellent time management and project management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Team player who can operate independently
