Job Description
We are seeking a Legal Consultant (6-9 months) with expertise in banking and finance and/or data privacy to join our client. This is a role within a US multinational corporation (MNC), and you will be an integral part of an established legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) and relevant experience in banking and finance or data privacy law. Experience in general corporate commercial matters would be beneficial too.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including loan transactions, credit facilities, financing agreements, and regulatory compliance.
- Review and negotiate complex financial contracts and agreements.
- Advise on legal risks associated with banking and finance activities and propose mitigation strategies.
- Assist with general corporate commercial matters, such as contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
- Provide legal support and advice on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management matters.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal compliance in day-to-day business activities.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant banking and finance laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Stay updated on emerging legal developments and trends in the banking and finance sector.
- Provide recommendations and guidance based on research findings to support decision-making processes.
- Prepare and review legal documentation, including legal opinions, memoranda, and reports.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping of all legal activities.
- Collaborate effectively with the legal team and other internal stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
- Provide guidance and support to junior legal staff, as needed.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Key Requirements
- 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) as a lawyer, with a focus on banking and finance law and/or TMT/Data Privacy.
- Strong knowledge of banking and finance transactions, credit facilities, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
- Experience in general corporate commercial matters, including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Prior experience in a US multinational corporation (MNC) or a reputable law firm would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations is highly regarded.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
