Job Description

We are seeking a Legal Consultant (6-9 months) with expertise in banking and finance and/or data privacy to join our client. This is a role within a US multinational corporation (MNC), and you will be an integral part of an established legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) and relevant experience in banking and finance or data privacy law. Experience in general corporate commercial matters would be beneficial too.

We are looking to fill 2 headcounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including loan transactions, credit facilities, financing agreements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and negotiate complex financial contracts and agreements.
  • Advise on legal risks associated with banking and finance activities and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with general corporate commercial matters, such as contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Provide legal support and advice on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management matters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal compliance in day-to-day business activities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant banking and finance laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging legal developments and trends in the banking and finance sector.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance based on research findings to support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and review legal documentation, including legal opinions, memoranda, and reports.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping of all legal activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with the legal team and other internal stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior legal staff, as needed.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Key Requirements
  • 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) as a lawyer, with a focus on banking and finance law and/or TMT/Data Privacy.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and finance transactions, credit facilities, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
  • Experience in general corporate commercial matters, including contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Prior experience in a US multinational corporation (MNC) or a reputable law firm would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations is highly regarded.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
