You will be the primary contact for internal and external indirect tax matters in APAC countries. You will manage the compliance of indirect taxes, review and optimize indirect tax processes, implement indirect tax policies. You will support the Global Indirect Tax Director and execute the company's indirect tax strategy

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Review and approve draft indirect tax returns, journal entries, account reconciliations
  • Manage indirect tax audit defense, as well as gather documentation for routine queries, where not available to BPO
  • Support in developing and executing indirect tax strategy and planning
  • Assess the potential impact of indirect tax legislative changes and trends; provide updates to the business and Global Indirect Tax Director; coordinate with relevant stakeholders the implementation of the changes
  • Identify potential indirect tax implications of new products/transaction flows, and coordinate necessary requirements with relevant stakeholders
  • Train relevant stakeholders (Business, Finance, GBS) on Indirect Tax requirements
  • Define documentation requirements and record keeping policy
  • Review quality and policy adherence of all indirect tax requirements (documentation, invoicing, calculations)
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of regional principles of indirect tax, and be able to effectively apply them
  • Handle tax queries from business stakeholders, as their single point of contact for indirect taxes in the region
  • Interact with external parties such as auditors, consultants, and BPO
  • Monitor and ensure compliance to indirect tax requirements

Key Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in law, accounting or economics
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant in-house professional experience in regional indirect tax compliance; additional consulting experience preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Extensive working experience across the Asia region is ideal, along with a background in Food & Beverage/FMCG discipline will be advantageous
  • Fluent in English – written and spoken; regional language as native speaker; Chinese a plus
