Job Description

​An innovative, fast growing payments business who are transforming the Retail and Loyalty sector have an urgent requirement for a Head of Retail Sales. The Head of Retail Sales is responsible for driving growth by building partnerships with retailers in the UK. The role looks at partnering with key stakeholders across the business in product and technology, to ensure effective delivery of partnerships within retailer and bank channels.

You will be responsible for:

  • Growing a pipeline of prospective merchants, proactively researching to identify key decision makers to engage with the prospect to secure face to face meetings, navigating large organisations and building relationships with multiple decision makers

  • Building a deep understanding of merchant priorities to enable the creation of a commercial model/partnership proposal per retailer that demonstrates a compelling, targeted value proposition for the merchant

  • Ensuring cross-functional alignment with product management, product delivery and solutions delivery. Act as the voice of the customer within all internal product design and prioritisation forums, to ensure that the business brings the right product set to the marketplace

  • Creating and driving new business through the delivery of sales pitches, presentations and sales proposals. Comfort in dealing with senior level executives, as well as being able to articulate technical detail and complexity to more junior level stakeholders

  • Using a variety of styles to persuade and negotiate appropriately to overcome objections to a positive conclusion, and have the appropriate relationship skills to manage dialogue with partners productively and effectively

  • Representing the business at industry events and conferences as appropriate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in closing deals in B2B sales, preferably from a loyalty, financial, retail or fintech sector

  • In-depth understanding of payments and loyalty space – with solid understanding of how brands and retailers engage with and consume loyalty products

  • Strong experience in retail sector – either gained directly within a retailer environment, or having partnered extensively with retailers

  • (Ideally) experience of key industry verticals with whom the company partners – grocery, convenience, high street retail, casual dining and fashion/clothing retail is highly desirable

  • (Potentially) strong network in the retail space in the UK market

  • A track-record in building high-performance teams, and a leadership style that is both compelling and inspiring

  • Track record of excellence in exceeding sales goals and sales quotas

  • Excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting to senior level management and functional stakeholders in equal measure

  • Ability to combine your senior leadership with a naturally down-to-earth, non-corporate demeanour that people warm to

  • Highly collaborative/team-focussed demeanour, generating authentic followership from those that you work with

  • Adaptability – stability of performance through uncertainty and pressure
