Job Description
A leading multinational organization is seeking an experienced and strategic Group General Counsel to lead its global legal function. This role focuses on M&A and Private Equity transactions in emerging markets, and the successful candidate will provide expert legal advice across multiple jurisdictions. With global coverage, the role reports directly to the C-suite and requires leadership of a high-performing legal team.

- Lead and manage the global legal team, providing guidance on legal strategy, corporate governance, and risk management.
- Oversee and advise on M&A and Private Equity transactions, particularly in emerging markets, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Develop and implement legal frameworks for complex cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the C-suite on legal risks and business decisions, contributing to overall corporate strategy.
- Ensure effective management of all legal aspects of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
- Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring the efficient use of resources and alignment with the company’s objectives.
- Monitor legal developments in emerging markets and provide insights to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally 20+ years.
- Extensive experience in M&A and Private Equity transactions, with a focus on emerging markets.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing and developing legal teams in a global, multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior executives and advise on strategic decisions.
- Excellent knowledge of international corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
