Our client is an impressive, commercial, growing organisation that has developed its business portfolio across the APAC region. Due to the growth of the business, it is now looking to appoint a Data Protection and Compliance Manager to be based in their Singapore office. This is a newly created position and will enable you to build and develop a data protection, risk and compliance function. A large part of this roll will include rolling out GDPR policy, building the risk framework and improving existing compliance policies. This is a strategic role, where you will regularly engage with senior stakeholders making recommendations to the business based on your findings around GDPR, risk and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business on all matters Privacy and will assume the role of the data protection officer to ensure compliance with all data protection laws
  • Build, implement and maintain a risk management framework
  • Develop a risk and control self-assessment and implement across the business to monitor and manage risk
  • Review and maintain the risk register
  • Lead risk assessment and management training across the business
  • Keep abreast of all regulatory requirements including privacy laws and change to any regulation and what the impact to the business will be
  • Report to the Board on all data protection and risk matters

Key Requirements

  • 5 years+ of relevant experience within a data protection / risk / compliance role
  • Hold a good Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrable experience managing GDPR and the impact of regulations to a business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with senior management
  • Worked within a complex group structure across multiple locations
  • Worked within a strategic, change environment
